In 2021, the Covington Outreach Association assisted 705 individuals in 210 households offering over $50,000 of emergency food and financial assistance to our Covington neighbors. Since our humble beginnings in 2006, the COA has distributed close to $1.2M into our community and assisted hundreds of local individuals each year.

Virtual Food Pantry Is Big Success
The virtual food pantry program the COA began in early 2021 is working out very well. Every Friday afternoon, COA volunteers meet our families at the Meijer store in Troy to pay for their groceries. By having families shop for their own groceries, the COA eliminated food expiration concerns, hundreds of volunteer hours, and the need for a physical space.
Many thanks to the Covington Community Chest for donating funds to purchase Dollar General gift cards for families to use on non food items such as personal care items, cleaning supplies, and paper products.
Meijer Simply Give
As a food pantry partner with the Meijer Simply Give program since 2009, our donors and Meijer have earned us almost $350,000 in food only gift cards. The gift cards are used to fund our weekly instore grocery shopping program and to purchase bulk food supplies for our Food 4 Kids program which is coordinated by counselors at the Covington schools.

Glacier View Coffee Makes Donation
Glacier View Coffee honors the COA with generous donation of over $1400 through their Tips for Charity program.
Back to School Program
The Covington Outreach Association provided 47 students, including preschoolers, from 22 families with a backpack and grade level supplies. On August 3rd, we hosted Shoes 4 the Shoeless, a Dayton area nonprofit which provides children with properly fitted shoes and socks. We sent home 74 pairs of shoes and 200 pairs of socks that day, along with many huge smiles! Additionally, we provided 17 free haircuts at several area salons and barber shops. Head to Toe, Get Ready to Go!
The Covington Outreach Association thanks the community for their generous donations that made Christmas morning a happy memory for 70 Covington children. Santa brought Legos, baby dolls, fishing poles, basketballs, footballs, arts and crafts, LED lighting, fuzzy hats and gloves, sweatshirts, slippers, Teddy bears, Blipis, Baby Yodas and a giant pink flamingo.
The COA provided groceries for Christmas dinners for over forty families and shared a warm handmade blanket with each of the 66 residents at the Stillwater care center.
We greatly appreciate the young people of our community who organized the Teddy Bear Toss at a home basketball game to collect warm hats, gloves, and socks.
A special thanks to our Covington churches and the Staci Jo Blythe “Christmas in July” Memorial Golf Tournament for their faithful support of our children’s gift program. They make holiday dreams come true.
