In 2021 the COA provided over $50,000 of emergency food and financial assistance to our Covington neighbors. Already this fall, we have surpassed that number and expect a larger than usual registration for our children’s Christmas Angels program.  Since our humble beginnings in 2006, the COA has distributed over $1M into our community and assisted hundreds of local individuals each year.

We are honored to receive an On-Going Humanitarian Grant from the Miami County Foundation.

New Program Kicks off a Summer of Fun

COA kicked off summer with a drive-through distribution of paper products, cleaning supplies and personal care items donated by our Covington churches, Perrigo and New Tech Plastics. We look for new ways to support the needs of our families and they were delighted with the all the extras. We made sure to include some fun with freezer pops and everything needed to make S’mores. Our families with young children also received a beach tote with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, sunscreen, and bug spray to take outside and enjoy the summertime.

Meijer Simply Give

Every Friday afternoon, COA volunteers meet our families at the Meijer store in Troy to pay for their groceries. By having families shop for their own food, the COA eliminated expiration date concerns, hundreds of volunteer hours, and the need for a physical space.

As a food pantry partner with the Meijer Simply Give program since 2009, our donors and Meijer have earned us almost $350,000 in food only gift cards. The gift cards are used to fund our weekly in-store grocery shopping program and to purchase bulk food supplies for our Food 4 Kids program which sends home groceries to nearly 80 children every month to provide food during long weekends.

 Back to School Program

What a beautiful day! The COA celebrated back to school with students and their families on the front lawn of the Covington High School. We sent home backpacks with supplies, nutritious snacks and a shiny new water bottle. Shoes 4 the Shoeless provided 51 pairs of properly fitted shoes and plenty of new socks. Haircut vouchers to several area salons finished the prep for a great year at school.

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteers including folks from our churches, Perrigo, Fields of Grace and the CHS varsity volleyball team.

     Christmas Program

The Covington Outreach Association thanks the community for their generous donations that made Christmas morning a happy memory for 70 Covington children. Santa brought Legos, baby dolls, fishing poles, basketballs, footballs, arts and crafts, LED lighting, fuzzy hats and gloves, sweatshirts, slippers, Teddy bears, Blipis, Baby Yodas and a giant pink flamingo.

The COA provided groceries for Christmas dinners for over forty families and shared a warm handmade blanket with each of the 66 residents at the Stillwater care center.

We greatly appreciate the young people of our community who organized the Teddy Bear Toss at a home basketball game to collect warm hats, gloves, and socks.

A special thanks to our Covington churches and the Staci Jo Blythe “Christmas in July” Memorial Golf Tournament for their faithful support of our children’s gift program. They make holiday dreams come true.
